Today I’m being interviewed at two different blogs. This is only the second time I’ve done interviews for my writing, but I’ve decided I really enjoy them.
I don’t mean that in a narcissistic, oh-I’m-so-important way. Rather, I get a kick out of seeing what other people ask about. For example, these two interviews today have completely different questions, so I don’t repeat myself in the slightest.
Sometimes we think one aspect of our lives, personality, or work is interesting, but the interviewer goes in a different direction. I love that unpredictability, at least with written questions.
Written interviews are great for writers because we can tweak the answer to make sure we don’t say anything stupid, incomprehensible, or my personal favorite, unintentionally double-entendre-ish. We can make sure our answers reflect our voice and that we’re not rambling too much.
I haven’t done any spoken interviews like podcasts yet, and I’m not sure how I’ll do with them. I might start punching the air, looking for the delete button. *smile*
Have you ever been interviewed? Was it written or spoken (or have you done both)? How do you think you did? Did you enjoy it? If you’ve done both, which did you enjoy more?
