Resources for Writers

Over the past decade, Jami has not only developed many resources for writers herself, but she’s also collected several resources from other places on the internet that might be helpful to writers.

Favorite Writing Blogs and Resources

This blog is run by author Janice Hardy, who shares excellent writing craft advice. In addition, her team of guest authors offers more writing and publishing advice, including the Indie Author Series, where Jami is a faculty member/guest blogger

Formerly called The Bookshelf Muse, this blog by authors Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi is home to writing advice with a frequent focus on writing thesauruses for brainstorming unique emotion, settings, weather, and sensory information, etc. In addition, they run a Resident Writing Coach series with advanced-level writing advice from some of the top names in the industry.

This writing-workspace site by Angela and Becca (the same team as behind the Writers Helping Writers blog) is an online version of all their fantastic writing thesaurus collections (such as the popular Emotion Thesaurus) and writing tools.

This "Search Engine for Writers" site by Hiveword searches through 64,000+ writing articles curated by author Elizabeth Spann Craig.

This site by Larry Brooks, the author of Story Engineering, offers a great breakdown of story structure.

Favorite Writing Tools and Resources

A free, full-featured application for saving research notes, planning our story, capturing photos and ideas, etc. And everything is searchable. Squee!

Never lose your writing! Internet-based, password-secure storage to access your work from any connected device (computer, phone, tablet). Ta-da! Instant backups. *smile*
